nicopressNicopress tools

An aircraft's controls are often moved by control cables. These cables must be properly terminated (ended) in a way that develops the full cable strength. A Nicopress tool "swages" (crimps) a Nicopress sleeve or fitting onto a cable, holding it tightly in place. The small red and brass-colored tool is a low-cost Nicopress tool. The Nicopress sleeves are crimped by tightening the bolts on the tool's side. Professional mechanics and builders use the large Nicopress tool that looks like a bolt cutter. It is faster and easier to use, but is also much more expensive. It also has built-in dies for cutting aircraft cable. The three, small gray parts (enlarged in the blue inset) are Nicopress sleeves.
