Drill bits tend to leave a burr, or ragged edge, as they drill through metal. This edge must be removed for sheet metal parts to mate properly. A hole deburrer is used to smooth these ragged edges. Sometimes the deburrer cannot reach a hole. It is possible to deburr a hole with an oversize drill bit twirled between the fingers.
